Clement “Clem” Mercurious Squirrel IV
1889 — 1901
We call him Monocle Squirrel. Real name: Clement “Clem” Mercurious Squirrel IV, an Eastern gray who fought (politely and moderately) for squirrel rights when Atlanta's Inman Park was first turned into a human suburban development. Liked by humans, he was respected even more by his fellow squirrels, and it is said there is a monument to Clem inside a cavernous, hollowed-out, long-dead, sure-to-fall-soon Inman Park oak, the location of which remains a secret.
